Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd (RDM) is jointly owned by Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH (51%) of Germany and Denel (Pty) Ltd. South Africa.
RDM specializes in the development, design and manufacture of large- and medium-calibre ammunition families and is a world leader in the field of artillery, mortar and infantry systems as well as plant engineering.

History
Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd was established on September 1, 2008 when the Denel divisions Somchem (Somerset West and Wellington sites), Swartklip, Boksburg and Naschem (Boskop site), became part of the Rheinmetall Defence Group. The company became known as Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM).
RDM has two sites in the Western Cape, namely the Somerset West site and the Wellington site. The Wellington site is a chemical factory manufacturing raw materials which are further converted into propellants and explosives at the Somerset West site.
RDM has two sites in the northern part of South Africa, namely the Boskop site near Potchefstroom and the Boksburg site near the OR Tambo International airport. The Boksburg site is a forging facility which supplies forgings to the Boskop site which is mainly an ammunition filling facility.
